Four strangers – on the run in their respective countries – on a kamikaze mission across the South American jungle, with a truckload of nitroclyerin to deliver safely. It is a trip into the heart of darkness.
After the success of «French Connection» and «The Exorcist», William Friedkin embarked on «The Sorcerer» (remotely inspired by Henri-Georges Clouzot’s «Le Salaire de la Peur»), and soon considered it to be his best movie yet. Alas. Too dark, too radical, this little gem of a movie was sadly eclipsed on it’s release by nothing less than «Star Wars», which hit the cinemas at the same time.
This restaured version does ample justice to a hidden classic.
