After a first residency at Kufa last February, Brussels-based composer and musician Eric G Foy is back for a creative residency from 15 to 21 April 2024. Accompanied by the visual artist Shade Cumini, he is continuing his work on his project 'Completed by the Sky'.

The backbone of this project is his music, to which he will add writings, videos, sketches and book references. A personal work that tackles multiple themes such as impostor syndrome, anxiety, addiction, sobriety, spirituality, family, community and the social life of a son of a millennial Mauritian immigrant born and bred in Brussels.

Shade Cumini will be intervening in the project as a visual artist to enhance the personal aspect through her craft and diaristic style. Choosing her has been a no brainer since the project has been created through intimate subjects from my personal life.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS

Eric G Foy, a passionate musician from Brussels, started playing guitar at the age of 16. A few years later, he decided to follow training in computer music (MAO) at the Dubspot school in New York. After this training, he participated in several musical shows and cinematographic projects (EDSUN, O.R.A, Embryon ère). Following these first experiences, he wanted to deepen his knowledge in sound design. He then began training at Technocité in Mons. Since this training, he has immersed himself in projects such as !MAKi!? by Georges Maikel P., and in his own musical projects. In 2019, he worked for the young choreographer Nina Plantefève Castryck for whom he composed for the piece “divisé en deux”. Still as a composer, he joins Georges Maikel P. for the MISTER PERFECT research.

The release of a short film by Ulf Larsen in 2019 will be his first participation as a composer for film music. In 2020 and 2021, He composed music for Two video project. It Gets Better by Georges Maikel Pires Monteiro and My eyes by Ileana Orofino and Deborah Velazquez (debile).

In 2022, he participated in the research residency for the Papaya Project at the Warwick Arts Center. His first E.P. under the name Exode Exotique was released in May 2022. He also worked notably on the projects Sylvie Made It by Adrien Orville, Congregation by Alberta Whittle, Distilled by Sym Stellium and melissandre varin in 2022.

In 2023, he has mainly devoted himself to PAPAYA projects for a work in progress residency at the Luxembourgish center of choreographic creation TROIS C-L and the premiere at Kulturfabrik.

Eric G Foy's music style is characterized by a dreamlike atmosphere and cinematic touch that combines his search through his identity and his love for production, sound design and guitar. As an artist, he constantly seeks to develop a musical world through new projects.
