Before setting off on a 4-month walking tour of Luxembourg, the "La Capsule" project team will be stopping off at La Kufa from 25 to 7 April to build the capsule they will use to make a low-fi documentary.
From 1 May to 1 September, "La Capsule"'s team will be crossing Luxembourg and the surrounding area on foot to make a low-fi experimental road movie. It will start at the Kufa on Tuesday 30 April after a brunch with the team.
"In a society divided by nationalism, fundamentalism and fear, and at a time when the world as we know it is threatened by climate change and all the difficulties it brings, we are in desperate need of new imaginaries and other ways of life", explains "La Capsule"'s team a few weeks before their departure. It is against this backdrop that Luxembourg-based multidisciplinary artist Nora Wagner and her team will be exploring the potential of a low-fi, participatory, itinerant documentary-fiction where environmental, societal and artistic concerns are deconstructed and put into practice.
During this unprecedented journey, the team and the people they meet along the way will put their skills and experiences at the service of a nomadic story, designed to bring together different realities, in the hope of creating a complex image of the present and its possible futures. The construction of a caravan called a "capsule" at Kulturfabrik is essential to the success of this odyssey. With this caravan, pulled by humans, they will walk through the present and see what it can tell us about the future. This "capsule" will contain all the material needed to make the film, in accordance with a clearly defined ecological and sociocratic charter, so that different types of workshop can be offered.
La Capsule represents a multitude of possibilities: a travelling performance, a living sculpture, a mobile history, a space for meeting, creating and sharing knowledge, an archive for alternative imaginaries. It's a mobile space designed to be modular and adjustable to suit the places where they set up camp, because yes, La Capsule can also be transformed into a tent, a kitchen, a workshop and even a small museum.
La Capsule's team: Nora Wagner and Kim El Ouardi, accompanied by guest artists and filmmakers: Tania Soubry, Jennifer Lopes Santos, Julie Schröll, Moritz Schönecker, Marius Alsleben, Natascha Bisbis, Svenja Weber, and "S" Grand Atelier artists Aurélie d'Incau and Cloé Decroix.
