As part of a residency for his upcoming clown solo “Fantômes”, actor and clown Clément Delpérié is offering an introductory course in the art of clowning, open to anyone interested (experience in theater and clowning not required). Through a variety of techniques, participants will experiment with the sinuous and powerful path that is clowning.

OBJECTIVES:

  • Discover, through clowning, possible openings for our mind, through simple and difficult notions like listening, attention to self and other, availability, the right to be in the world, the right to exist and not to be afraid.
  • Extricate ourselves from the noise of the world, from obligations, from demands, from the gaze of others, from the gaze of societý, from classes, from work, and be ourselves, fully ourselves, and have fun, laugh, laugh at ourselves and at others, at our so-fragile condition.
  • Acquire properly theatrical tools: the mask, the body on stage, the technicality of breathing, speech, language, laughter, ease, imagination.
  • Work on pure improvisation, alone or in pairs, construction of passages solo or in pairs.

CONTENT:

  • Mask work (work on the creature, what does the clown mean, what is the mask, history of the clown, etc.).
  • Group exercises (walks, meditations, attentions, receptions, games, sensations).
  • Exploration and re-discovery of the 5 senses and how they are essential to the approach to clowning (touch, hearing, smell, taste, sight).
  • Directed improvisation, setting the imagination in motion.
  • Re-entering improvisation, making choices, failing, failing, being lost but happy.
